The Importance of Blood Cancer Research
One person who is particularly passionate about blood cancer research is Lynda Carter. Carter is best known for her role as Wonder Woman in the 1970s TV series. However, she is also a cancer survivor. In 2005, she was diagnosed with breast cancer. After undergoing treatment, she went into remission. However, in 2019, she was diagnosed with myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS), a type of blood cancer. MDS is a rare disease that affects the bone marrow. It can lead to anemia, fatigue, and an increased risk of infection.
Carter's diagnosis of MDS was a difficult time for her. However, she is determined to use her platform to raise awareness of blood cancer and to support research. She is working with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) to raise funds for research. She is also speaking out about the importance of early detection and treatment.
